Zauberflöte - the unknown well-known. Masonic symbols, structures and music in Mozart's last opera
Zauberflöte - the unknown well-known. Masonic symbols, structures and music in Mozart's last opera

Another book that attempts to interpret Mozart and once again explain the Magic Flute? That's all that's missing. Generations of authors have failed to do so. Ekhart Wycik seems to have succeeded in making the impossible possible: As an internationally active conductor, as a musician and as a person, he has meticulously and comprehensively analysed the so-called Masonic opera.
Exciting, knowledgeable and tongue-in-cheek, he brings readers closer to a piece of European (and Masonic?) music history - even those who are otherwise less interested in classical music.

Sarasota Opera's Executive Director Richard Russell and guest conductor Ekhart Wycik in a brief talk about Beethoven’s Fidelio. Wycik spoke about the challenges non-German speakers face when learning such a masterpiece - he also gives a small window into Beethoven’s soul as he was composing the work.
